The condition of your loved one may demand the clinical skills and expertise of a Registered Nurse.  All RNs employed by Exclusive Care Services must possess a current valid unrestricted licensed to practice in the province of Ontario.

The duties of our Registered nurse are to provide appropriate care, comfort, and education to patients and their significant others.  The care provided will vary but it is based on the nursing process of assessing the patient's needs, seeking the most effective care model (primarily done during complimentary Assessment/Interview), developing a plan of care (Personalize Care Package), execution of the plan, and on-going monitoring the plan for adjustments.  The Registered Nurse will also provide emotional support to patients whose conditions may not improve or give comfort to those in a palliative situation.

Specific duties may include:

• The provision of client centered bedside care
• Monitoring and recording client’s progress
• Administer medications and performing medical treatments
• Emergency care
• Client care coordination
• Assist family physicians with examinations and/or procedures
• Provide health education to clients and significant others
• Serve as client’s Advocate
• Operate or monitor medical apparatus or equipment

Our Registered Practical Nurses provide nursing care, within a defined scope of practice (as dictated by the College of Nurses of Ontario), based on assessment and the personal care plan. All RPNs employed by Exclusive Care Services must possess a current valid license to practice in the province of Ontario.

Specific duties may include:

• Perform nursing care such as taking vital signs
• Maintain aseptic techniques including sterile dressings
• Monitor nutritional intake and output
• Specimen collection
• Ensure infection control
• Monitor established respiratory therapy
• Monitor established intravenous therapy
• Monitor client’s progress and care effectiveness
• Administer medications
• Provide safety and health education to clients and their significant others

Our Personal Support Workers will assist with daily personal care needs as clients cope with injuries, illness or conditions of aging.  All PSWs employed by Exclusive Care Services must possess certificates.  Unfortunately this is not an industry standard, but we feel certification is an important requirement and we demand that they all possess certificates.  Please note that PSWs do not administer any medications, although they may assist in their administration.  The amount and type of care to be provided is determined during the initial free consultation/assessment.

Specific duties may include:

• Provides attendant care services including transferring, lifting.
• Assists in personal hygiene and basic personal care
• Light Meal preparation and feeding
• Toileting activities
• Change beds, towels, and perform light laundry related tasks
• Assist clients with dressing
• General assistance in the Activities of Daily Living
• Assist with client mobility (walking, movement and positioning)
• Supports the client’s independence
• Observes, recognizes and report changes to client’s behavior or condition
• Assists with range of motion exercises and other rehabilitative measures

The purpose of a companion is to encourage, support, and assist clients to achieve and maintain a better state of well-being within their own lifestyle.  Often, particularly in later life, we find ourselves alone without someone to lend an ear, or to extend a helping hand or a comforting smile. 

It may be to take mom to the movies or to accompany dad to the ballpark or simply just having someone to sit and visit.  In these situations, the services of a compatible companion can elevate the level of self-worth, and independence.
